ART - CAILLEBOTTE Gustave (1848 - 1894) - Autograph letter signed
Autograph letter signed, dated "14 Juin 87" by the French impressionist painter. Addressed to the celebrated painter Claude Monet: "...J'écris pour savoir si votre tableau est rentré. Je suppose que ce s'est bien passé! Oui il fait un temps superbe j'ai beaucoup de choses en train mais on ne fait pas ce qu'on veut...". He then attempts to arrange an artist dinner with Monet and Pierre-Auguste Renoir: "...Est-ce que notre dîner aura lieu le 7 Juillet? Où est Renoir? (...) Je suppose que vous lisez la Terre". Caillebotte's mention of La Terre, an 1887 novel by Emile Zola, who was painted by Edouard Manet. A fabulous letter between two major Impressionist artists also mentioning Renoir and Zola’s novel. 2 pp. In-8.
