Raised by her grandmother, she married Baron Dudevant at the age of 18, from whom she separated in 1931. She moved to Paris to earn a living for herself and her children. She joined the Figaro. She began writing under the pseudonym George Sand. She published several novels that were a great success. She travelled to Venice with Musset. She introduced a political aspect into her novels. She spent 8 years with Chopin. Autograph letter signed "George Sand". Nohant, January 28, 1872, 1 p. in-8°. Beautiful piece. Her correspondent having not acknowledged receipt of the letter “pour l’Empereur du Brésil” she fears that the letter she sent to him (on January 7) has not reached him and she asks to send it again".
