HISTORY - GARIBALDI Giuseppe (1807 - 1882) - Autograph letter signed

In 1833, he should have organized a mutiny in the port of Genoa, but was sentenced to death and fled to Brazil. He returned to Nice in 1848 with his red shirts, which ended with the defeat of Piedmont. He then went to Rome to defend the Pope, and suffered another defeat. He fled to North Africa and then to the United States. On his return in 1854, he bought the island of Caprera. In 1866, he again took part in the Third Italian War of Independence against Austria. Finally, after Sedan, he took part in the fight against the German invasion, before retiring to his island. Autograph letter signed and dated Rome, 14.02.1878 to Louis Lamborelle: "Merci pour votre bonne lettre et pour votre livre “Le Bon Vieux Temps” que je lirai avec plaisir…”
