Senior officer's shako, colonel of the 72nd regiment of line infantry, taupe felt shaft, black leather cap, two gold braid braids at the top, the top braid wider, black velvet bourdalou with buckle at the back; black leather visor, decorated with foliage at the top and edged with a gilded brass trim; gilded brass plate, stamped with the arms of France model 1814/1815, decorated on each side with a grenade, numbered: "72" in applied guilloché numerals; gilded brass scale chinstraps, bosses adorned with a flaming grenade; wolf's tooth leather inner headband; pompom covered with sequins in vermeil passementerie, topped with a large white plumeet, missing sequins; height 24.5 cm. (White plumet later). First Restoration period, 1814/1815. Very good condition. This shako is reproduced in La Giberne magazine, 2nd half 1907, page 69; former LE GOUEST collection.
