Necessary case containing a pair of officer's flintlock pistols, converted to percussion, octagonal barrels lightly blunderbussed in ribbon damascus steel, grained and decorated with gold filets, barrels hallmarked twice: "N B" in rectangles on a gold background, signed on two sides, in gold letters: "Boutet" and "à Versailles" and numbered on the lower sides, near the barrels: "153", the ends on the upper sides numbered: "1" and "2", as well as an adjustable blued-steel, 12 mm caliber hair-ribbed front sight; flat-bodied locks, engraved around the rim and signed in gold letters: "Boutet"; finely engraved, cut and case-hardened iron fittings, lug bridges engraved, one with a deer's head, the other with a dog's head and finished, at the front, with a stylized fleur-de-lys; walnut stocks with short shafts, checkered grips, keyways and gold thumb pieces monogrammed: "C" surmounted by a Marquis crown; length 35 cm. Mahogany case bearing, on the lid, an oval brass plate monogrammed in Gothic letters: "C B"; interior sheathed in beige-orange chamois leather; complete with all accessories: case-hardened steel bullet mold with original breechblock remover; the interior of this case was readapted at the time of conversion to percussion, with certain new accessories: screwdriver, capsule box and powder flask, the sheathing is later; it is presented with its key. Restoration period, converted at this time or under Louis-Philippe. Very good condition. Enclosed is a handwritten letter dated August 28, 1931, announcing to the future owner the shipment of this box, as well as part of its history.
