Pair of officer's flintlock military pistols by Misillieu à Paris, white polished, slightly blunderbussed barrels, flat tops extending to the sights, 16 mm caliber; flat-bodied locks signed : "Misillieu à Paris", swan-necked hammers, batteries with safety system, pivoting at 90° to keep the powder in the pan without risking an untimely departure of the shot; cut-out iron fittings, cap nails adorned with a grotesque head; carved veined walnut stocks, barrel ends reinforced by a brown horn tip; wooden ramrods with horn tip terminated by an iron pastille; length 48.5 cm. Circa 1730. Very good condition. MISILLIEU or MICILIEN or MISSILIEU, family of harquebusiers in Saint-Étienne and Paris.
