Souvenir of General Ambroise Joseph Colin de Verdière, Baron (1780/1840) : Black lacquered oval frame containing his decorations: - Croix de commandeur de l'ordre de la Légion d'honneur in gold, enameled, Louis-Philippe model; diameter 60 mm, gross weight approx. 40 g; ram's head hallmark; presented with a fragment of tie (small chip on two branches, obverse). - Croix de chevalier de l'ordre de Saint-Louis Restauration, gold, enameled, modified under Louis-Philippe (fleurs-de-lis between the branches removed); with its bouffette ribbon; width 42 mm, gross weight approx. 17 g. (The blue enamel in the center is slightly missing). - Officer's cross of the Order of Saint Ferdinand of Spain, created by Ferdinand VII on July 10, 1815, in gold, enameled; width 35 mm, gross weight approx. 14 g. (The enamel is slightly missing). Restoration period, Spanish campaign. - Silver grand officer's plaque of the order of Saint Ferdinand d'Espagne in silver, enameled, enameled gold centers; width 79 mm, gross weight 44 g. Restoration period, Louis-Philippe period. On each side of the decorations, a large silver star. Good condition. Souvenirs of General Ambroise Joseph COLIN de VERDIÈRE, Baron (1780/1840) : Ambroise COLIN de VERDIÈRE, volunteered as a hussar in the 10th regiment in 1796; second lieutenant in the 21st chasseur regiment in 1797, before becoming aide-de-camp to his father, General de VERDIÈRE; retained in his position with the rank of lieutenant in 1798; served in Holland, then in the Army of the Rhine, 1800/1801; placed at the disposal of General de ROCHAMBEAU, October 30, 1801; employed in Saint-Domingue, he became aide-de-camp to this general, October 21, 1802, with the rank of captain, February 26, 1803. Aide-de-camp to General JUNOT, December 15, 1803; then captain in the 8th Regiment of Mounted Chasseurs, November 9, 1805; he campaigned in the Grand Army, 1805, and in the Army of Italy against Austria, 1809. Appointed squadron leader in the 8th régiment de chasseurs à cheval, in August 1809; then admitted with his rank to the 2nd régiment de chevau-légers lanciers de la garde impériale, on January 8, 1812; he took part in the campaigns of Russia, 1812, and Germany, 1813. Wounded at the battle of the Berezina, November 28, 1812; promoted to colonel in the line, November 28, 1813, he was given command of the 7th regiment of mounted chasseurs in December 1813, and took part in the French campaign in 1814. Maintained at the head of his regiment under the First Restoration, which became the Orléans chasseurs regiment on October 8, 1814, he retained his position during the Hundred Days. Put on inactive status on November 13, 1815, he was reinstated as colonel of the Jura hussar regiment (no. 1) on November 26, 1817. He took part in the Spanish Expedition and the Army of the Pyrenees, 1823. Promoted to maréchal de camp on June 29, 1823, he was appointed superior commander of Burgos and Madrid on August 9, 1823. Retired on December 25, 1923. Inspector general of cavalry, in 1825, in the 16th military division, on June 29; commander of the 4th subdivision of the 10th military division, on December 27, 1826; commander of the Jura, under the July monarchy, on December 30, 1830, he was included in this capacity on the general staff, on March 22, 1831, then called to command the Doubs department, on December 16, 1832.
