Description
Rectangular Aleppo wood chest resting on four large square-section legs, it opens with a hinged flap. The front is made up of seven finely-worked panels. Openwork uprights with crosses in relief and large cabochons in relief. 19th century H: 128 - W: 201- D: 58 cm (modified opening) This large chest, called (it is also often called, i.e. Phoenician), was designed to hold clothes, fabrics and probably also men's weapons (sabres and rifles). It had its place in Kabyle homes, close to the family bed.
