This volume comes from the presses of Honoré de Balzac, and is one of the most sought-after, because the most successful, of the Balzac prints. This edition is much rarer than the second, from the same year. This volume has long been missing from the BnF, which did not possess it in 1921. Binding signed Germain-Simier, contemporary, half blond calf with small corners, spine with 4 long-ornamented raised bands, gilt palettes at head and tail, spotted edges (one bit partially split).
