Honoré de Balzac, Les contes drolatiques. Paris, Charles Gosselin puis Hippolyte Souverain, 1832-1833-1839. 3 volumes in-8, 382-[2]p, 416p & 369-[1bl]-[6]p. First edition of volumes 2 and 3 and second edition of volume 1. The first volume was quickly reprinted by Everat in December 1832 (it had been published in April 1832), just before the edition of volume 2 (in January 1833). Volume 3 had been published in 1837 by Gosselin. Souverain is reissuing it here with a new title and faux-title, even changing the title to "Berthe la repentie. - contes drolatiques". Bound in modern imitation half-basane, ribbed spine, fillets. Spine faded, scattered foxing, sometimes a little heavy on some leaves.
