Cosimo ULIVELLI (1625-1705) Hercules of Este recovering from a fatal wound Pen and brown ink, wash, red chalk on paper (tears, restorations, pasted full) Annotated lower center: "di Cosimo Ulivelli", numbered in pencil lower right: "15". Unidentified collector's mark lower right. 21 x 18.8 cm Preparatory study for one of the frescoes in the nave of the Basilica of the Santissima Annunziata in Florence. The cycle, painted in 1671, is located in the upper part of the nave and depicts the miracles of the Madonna Annunziata.
