Superb mahogany, mahogany veneer, chased and gilded bronze mechanism and writing table. Sheath legs with recessed molding, bronze sabots and rings. Slightly recessed belt opening to a drawer edged with a gilt-bronze pearl-fringed molding. Reserve stops underlined by a twisted bronze cord. The top, encircled by a bronze molding with an openwork gallery on three sides, can be pulled down to reveal a square white marble top flanked by cellars. The mirror has a swivel mechanism with a bronze frame. Attributed to Jean-Henri RIESENER (1734-1806). Louis XVI period (a few accidents, some repairs to the base, formerly on casters). Height: 80 cm - Width: 112 cm - Depth: 65 cm The absence of a stamp on this mahogany table nevertheless leads us to think of the cabinetmaker Jean-Henri RIESENER. Indeed, the tripartite girdle with its central protrusion adorned with this keyhole allows us to attribute this table to the master. In addition, the folding mirror reminds us of a table with a mechanism offered by de BAECQUE on April 27, 2021 in Lyon. The quality of the bronze and steel mechanism reflects the virtuosity of the cabinetmaker.
