CHINESE NORTHERN WEI DYNASTY TERRACOTTA HORSE - TL TESTED

Northern Wei Dynasty, Ca. AD 386 - 534. A Chinese terracotta horse. It is a fully caparisoned horse standing on a rectangular base, with splayed saddle cloth painted using red pigments, bells worn on the chest and another bell dangling on the neck. The head is facing downwards with intricate facial details. This piece has been precisely dated using a Thermo Luminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. The report will accompany the lot. Size: 440mm x 460mm; Weight: 6.89kg Provenance: UK private collection; formerly acquired in the early 1990s in Hong Kong. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
