LATE ROMAN PURPLE GLASS BOTTLE DECORATED WITH MOULDED GEOMETRIC MOTIF

Ca. AD 300 - 400. A Late Roman purple glass bottle with a decorated body depicting geometric motifs on the main register. The shoulders and foot are adorned with vertical lines. The bottle has a very fine vertical handle connected to the out curving rim. For similar see: Christie's, Live Auction 13850, Antiquities, Lot. 285. Size: 100mm x 60mm; Weight: 180g Provenance: Property of a central London art gallery; previously in the private collection of Mr. R. Unger; acquired in the 1970s on the UK art market.
