HELLENISTIC BANDED AGATE BIRD SHAPED AMULET
Ca. 323 - 146 BC. A Hellenistic banded agate bird shaped amulet made in a stylised manner with closed wings and a elongated body. It has a short globular head and a vertical hole drilled. Birds were often seen as symbols of divine communication or messengers between humans and gods. Their ability to soar high in the sky made them connected to the heavens.
