EGYPTIAN CARNELIAN EYE AMULET

Late Period, Ca. 664 - 332 BC. A Carnelian wadjet amulet (eye of Horus). One side is carved with details. The seal has a slightly curved profile and is not pierced for suspension. In Egypt, people wore carnelian to ward off the Evil Eye and instill peace. The ancient Egyptians called carnelian “the setting sun”. For similar see: Liverpool Museum M11921.
