HEAVY PTOLEMAIC GOLD ARM RING

Ptolemaic Period, Ca. 525 - 30 BC. A heavy gold spiral snake arm ring, terminating with a tapered loop tail and opposing is a moulded snake head with one remaining blue sapphire or glass inset eye. A fantastic example of Egyptian jewellery featuring a copper core with very thick and entirely preserved 22/23 carat gold sheet. Size: 50mm x 85mm; Weight: 34.59g Provenance: Property of a London Ancient Art gallery, formerly private NYC collection. Ex. Florida collection, acquired at Sotheby’s Arcade, NYC, 1980’s.
