Description

DAIMLER Sovereign 4.2 bed series 3 After more than 10 years of loyal service, the aesthetically very similar Series 1 & 2 are slowly aging. It's time to modernize the line. Jaguar (and its clone Daimler) called on Pininfarina for the Series 3. How to avoid distorting "the world's most beautiful sedan"? Simply by taking the line and modernizing it. The result is excellent. Although immediately recognizable, all the body panels are new. It's the same car, but more modern. Rubber-upholstered bumpers, simplified grille, recessed exterior door handles, enlarged taillights, etc... The interior follows the same approach: everything is new, but we're still in familiar territory. Mechanically, on the other hand, we take the same engines and gearboxes, the famous XK twin-shaft 4.2-litre 6-cylinder, as well as the 5.3-litre V12, and start again. The 6-cylinder model remained until 1986, when it was replaced by the XJ 40. But the V12 continued its career with this body style until 1992. Total production was just over 130,000 units (all engines combined). The model presented for sale was purchased new in August 1982. It had only two owners and was delivered new to Lausanne. It has covered only 141,200 km. It runs perfectly. It bears a few age-related marks, but it's an exceptional opportunity to get to grips with classic cars at a more than reasonable price. It is appraised today.
