Description

PARIS circa 1650 Silver chalice, partially gilded around the rim and inside the bowl. The circular foot is bordered by an openwork leafy frieze, underlined by a line of seeds, and is engraved on the reverse: F.C. The foot is embossed with the instruments of the passion between three cherubs' heads, chased as a reminder on the stem's knot, chased with fruit, and the false cup in a frame of two gadroon flanges underlined by two smaller flanges. Master goldsmith: attributed to François LENRET, received in 1643 Gross weight: 770 g - height: 27.7 cm - diameter of foot: 16.3 cm - of bowl: 9.9 cm Only the goldsmith's hallmark appears on the bowl - no jurande hallmark. Condition: old restoration and consolidation between the inside of the circular foot and the start of the shaft.
