PARIS 1744 - 1750 FOR THE MOUNTING AND ATTRIBUTED TO JAPAN FOR THE LACQUERING Cylindrical message case with domed ends decorated with a stylized chrysanthemum lacquered in gold on a red background. The case, probably made of bamboo, has a nashiji base and is adorned with two aoigata-shaped reserves with a ro iro base, decorated in hira makie and takamakie in gold and red. The reserves feature a child holding a stick under a plum tree branch on which two nightingales are perched, and a figure under bamboo. Gold mounting attributed to master silversmith Jean-Claude LA BOISSIERE, received in 1720 (different from a stag's head with antlers).
