Renault Supercinq, GT Turbo 1989

French historic registration title At a time when the GTI segment was booming with the 205 and the Golf, Renault decided to make a big splash and replace its R5 Alpine; the Régie took advantage of its experience of turbocharging acquired in competition and presented its Supercinq GT Turbo at the 1984 Paris Motor Show. Thanks to the addition of the Garret T2 turbocharger, the Cléon cast-iron 1.4 litre 4-cylinder engine reached 115 and then 120 hp and 204 kph in its Phase 2 version; the turbo boost combined with Marcello Gandini’s restyling produced an exhilarating result. The car had only one owner between 1989 and 2023, with a total of 42,500 km (certified by the Histovec report); perfect condition, interior (upholstery and plastics) in incredible condition, very good quality paint veil (date unknown). Good running order, addictive “Turbo effect”; the car has been serviced for 10 years by the same garage, with a general overhaul carried out just before the sale. Purchase invoice, service book and barré rouge still present; car in exceptional condition, much rarer than a 205 GTI... and more powerful!
