A DLC “Diamond Like Carbon” self winding chronograph, custom Made MAD Paris & Rolex, circa 2010 With presentation case, certificate, booklet, tags and an extra link in DLC Custom-made luxury watches have become a very strong trend in the collector's watch market in recent years, particularly among strong players such as MAD Paris, as shown by our two examples that were custom-made (lot 38 and lot 39). As we can see, custom made work requires dexterity and is often associated with iconic models, such as the Rolex Daytona. They give them a new life, updating them to suit contemporary tastes while retaining what makes them so coveted in the first place. More than that, good personalization is seeing by the use of techniques such as the one seen on the model in DLC (Lot 38), the second being just a reinterpretation of the dial (lot 39). Just note that these modifications are not recognized as being of Rolex manufacture, so there will be no service possible for these watches at Rolex SA. If MAD Paris is known for its custom-made watches, it’s easy to recognize the dexterity of the work in the treatment of the case and this reinterpretation of a Swiss haute horlogerie standard with a fashionable twist.
