Ascensions. Gavarnie, 193…
Description

One of 38 copies on Vélin d'Arches BRULLE (Henri) Ascensions. Gavarnie, 1936 (1944). 2 volumes In-8: 3f. pp. 17 to 201 / 3f. 230pp. Minor spotting on edges. Note for Volume I: Book 1 does not exist (all copies have this particularity) and the pagination, which includes Book 1, therefore naturally begins at 17. Edition of 38 copies on Ch. Cadart's papier pur fil vélin d'Arches (no. 27), signed by J. Fourcassié and Raymond d'Espouy. Includes a postcard addressed to Ch. Cadart (dated 1949), and an autograph letter from d'Espouy to Raymond Ritter (dated January 1944). ½ tan morocco with corners, gilt titles on spines, gilt heads. A fine copy. Second edition. Very rare. The text is that of the "Souvenirs" with a few corrections and additions. It is supplemented by a comprehensive bibliography by Henri Brulle. Note that there is a trial edition, produced in 1944; the copies of this edition (about ten?) are also nominative, but numbered in Roman numerals and signed by R. d'Espouy only. (Labarère 298)
