This romantic philosopher, born in Sorèze in 1766, began his career as a teacher in Tarbes (author of a Système Universel); cosmologist, great believer in animal magnetism (he published "De la Phrénologie du Magnétisme et de la Folie"), and freemason! Of his stay in Tarbes in August-September 1797, he left this curious "Un Mois de Séjour dans les Pyrénées" (A Month's Stay in the Pyrenees), full of tender abandon and a messy outpouring.
