Description

A pair of cased percussion pistols by Peter Schenk of Mariánské Lázné/Marienbad, circa 1850 Rifled, fluted and blued octagonal barrels in 11 mm caliber, the bores slightly rough. The tops with the gold-inlaid signature "Peter Schenk" and inscribed "In Marienbad". The patent breechblocks and tangs embellished with decorative tendrils, numbered "1" and "2", height-adjustable front sights. The percussion locks also engraved with tendrils and gold-inlaid signatures. The half stocks exquisitely carved with floral ornaments. Iron, en suite engraved furniture. The grip of one pistol with a repaired crack. Length of each 36 cm. In a case veneered in burl wood and lined in green felt, with brass edge reinforcements and a monogrammed plaque on the lid. Containing extensive accessories, e.g. cleaning rod, ramrod and loading hammer, a small powder flask, nipple wrench, bullet mold etc. The inserts of the case renewed. Dimensions 43.5 x 28 x 8 cm.
