[War of the Spanish Succession]. [MANUSCRIT]. Sl, sd (1726). 2 vol. in-4, title, 155 ff. (ff. 47-49 erroneously bound after 51), with 12 folding tables out of text; title, 137 ff. (with numerous miscalculations), with 29 folding pieces out of text, handwritten or printed, average handwriting and variable legibility (about 30 lines per page), brown granulated basane, ornate ribbed spine, red speckled edges (period binding). Spines slightly rubbed. Very interesting memoires-journaux de guerre (et de paix) (war (and peace) diaries) which were part of a larger set (the volumes are tomés 2 and 3 on the spines), but which coherently cover the operations of the War of the Spanish Succession and the period of peace that followed Utrecht. They were written between 1715 and 1726. The author's name is Boscher or Bocher, he was a maréchal des logis and retired to Montivilliers (now in the Seine-Maritime region). This correspondence, inserted in volume II (opposite f. 54), contains the exchanges he had in 1716-1717 with the war administration concerning his retirement pensions. The attached hors texte documents are of great interest for the military personnel involved in all the operations of the conflict. (Details on request.)
