A German iron strongbox with early time locking mechanism, mid-19th century Box made of heavy sheet iron with riveted edge reinforcements. Brass key plate applied to the front. The spring-loaded cover of the keyhole secured with a wind-up time mechanism. Function not checked, probably in need of restoration. Inside, large lock with four tumblers, key present. Two movable carrying handles on the side. Remains of the manufacturer's label "C. Schlachter in Mannheim" inside. Repeatedly engraved signature on the key panel. Dimensions 27 x 46 x 34 cm.
