Description
A heavy German strongbox, circa 1600 Rectangular box made of strong sheet iron with riveted edge and strap reinforcements. Two movable carrying handles on the sides. Hinged lid, the lockable cover of the central keyhole with secret mechanism. Original hollow spike key. Inside a latch mechanism with four tumblers. Remains of the original red paint, later(?) date "1583" on the lid. The interior painted with old red red lead. Dimensions 32 x 16 x 16.5 cm. Condition: II -
