A finely enameled copper plaque with Cephalus and Procris, Limoges, Jacques II Laudin (1665 - 1729), 17th century Copper, polychrome enameled, partially gilt. Round, minimally domed plate, very finely painted with the tragic depiction (after Ovid's Metamorphoses) of the hunting enthusiast Cephalus, who fatally wounds his jealous wife Procris with an arrow due to a misunderstanding. At his side is the dog Lailaps. Monogrammed "I.L." on the reverse. Traces of age. Partially retouched. The reverse with defects. Diameter 8 cm. Condition: II -
