Description

A pair of luxurious Tibetan silver-mounted ritual vessels (bumpa), 19th century Two vessels made of sheet copper, worked en suite and fully covered with openwork and finely worked silver mountings. The fluted high foot merging into a bulbous body with a tapering neck. This is crowned with a protruding nodus with Ashtamangala symbols in relief all around. Four openwork bands of coral and turquoise mascarons run down from the nodus (attached to the body by struts on the back). The spout of the jug stylized as an elephant's head is also set with turquoise. Each without lid. Slightly dented in places, the silver overlay with small defects and restorations. Height approx. 22 cm each. Condition: II -
