Description

A bronze statuette of a man with a dagger, Neo-Elamite, 8th - 7th century B.C. 21.5 cm high bronze statue of a man with a girded robe that reaches far over the knees. A dagger is tucked into the belt. The lower hem of the robe is turned outwards. The right arm bent and brought forward, the left arm bent sideways and the hand resting on the scabbard of the dagger. The face with circular eyes, a prominent long nose, strong eyebrows and a narrow-lipped mouth. Eye rims and brows chiselled with fine strokes. A flat cap on the head, from which three broad stripes hang down at the back of the head. Green patina with red oxides. The outwardly placed hem of the garment applied by overcasting. Mounted on a base (height with base 16.5 cm). Expressive bronze sculpture of the late Elamite period. Condition: II +
