Félix Marurice Charpentier (1858 Bollène - 1924 Paris) "La chanson" (The song). Original title Bronze, silver-plated. Signed; cast by E. Colin & Cie, Paris (with foundry mark "COLIN"). After Charpentier took part in the 1889 World Exhibition in Paris and was awarded a silver medal, he exhibited two major works at the Salon in 1890. These included "La chanson", for which he won a first-class medal and the Salon Prize for the marble sculpture executed from the plaster model. The plaster sculpture, which was purchased by the French state, was subsequently installed in the vestibule of the town hall (Hôtel de Ville) in Paris. In 1899, the renowned Colin art foundry in Paris, which had been producing Charpentier's sculptures since 1897, exhibited the first bronze casts of "La chanson". H. 37.8 cm. Silver-plated bronze. Signed. "Foundry stamp "COLIN" by E. Colin & Cie, Paris.
