Georg Heinrich Bourmester (Burmester) (Active around 1770 - 1797 in Berlin) Commemorative sheet Drawn sheet executed in silhouette. Various allegorical depictions on a landscape base. On the left an imaginative architecture of ruins with the three Parcae, Fortuna and a broken rosebush; in the center an urn vase on a pedestal with the inscription "Sie verblühte zu schnell", crowned by an angel and a Minerva; on the right under a canopy temple a monument with a portrait silhouette and coat of arms, flanked by an angel of death. Pen and opaque white/paper. R. u. sign. "Invenit and drawn by G. Bormester". Slight foxing. 61 cm x 82 cm. Frame. The "silhouette maker" resp. (court) silhouette artist and graphic artist Bourmester (Burmester), who can be traced in Berlin from the 1770s to 1797, created silhouette portraits as well as a commemorative sheet "Borussiens Trauer am Sarge des Königl. Prinzen Friedrich Ludwig Carl" as silhouette engraving (1797), related in motif and style. Indian ink and whitening on paper. Signed. Minor foxing.
