Meissen dinner plate from the so-called Schwerin service for Frederick the Great as a gift to the head equerry Frederick Albert Count of Schwerin Round, hollowed form. The centre with a full-surface "Ozier" relief ground with recessed rocaille reserves and a colourful fruit bouquet. Open-worked rim with latticework, the intersections inlaid with purple-yellow forget-me-not blossoms and cartouches with gold-engraved cupids' wings and "Natural Flowers". Polychrome painting with rich gold decoration. Sword mark. D. 24.5 cm. Commissioned by Frederick the Great around 1762/63, this dessert service with forget-me-not decoration in relief is one of the most extensive services ordered by Frederick the Great during the Seven Years' War. On his birthday, January 24, 1781, he presented the gift to the chief equerry Friedrich Albert Count von Schwerin (1717 - 1789). Cf. Wittwer, in Keramos 208, 2010, p. 62, cat.
