Description
Rococo table clock with rare Meissen comedian figure "Pulcinella" Gilt French bronze base with relief scrolls. In the center is the porcelain figure of the Neapolitan Pulcinella with a strongly formed hump from the Italian comedy, stylistically related to the Harlequin or "Hanswurst" depiction. Comedian standing in an expressive dancing posture, dressed in a white jacket with stripes and playing card pattern over two-tone trousers and pointed hat. Holding a sausage in his right hand and a plank in his left. Polychrome painting with gold staffage. Figure designed by Johann Joachim Kaendler, circa 1740 - 1742. The back with ascending, widely branching acorn tendrils in green painted metal with horn acorns as supports for a round, rocaille-framed clock case in gilt bronze.
