Karachi rug. Pakistan, first half of the twentieth century. Hand knotted wool. It has marks of use and wear. Measurements: 153 x 94 cm. Karachi rug, from this Pakistani region that has a rich textile heritage. In its central field stand out the red bands that trace a rhomboidal structure that organizes the underlying floral design. It has seven borders, each with a geometrically ordered fretwork that differ slightly from one another. The main border, wider, has floral motifs. The predominant colors are reds, browns, ochers, gray, black, yellow, green. Karachi carpets are known for their distinctive designs and durability. Typical patterns of Karachi carpets often include geometric and floral motifs, and are usually made of high quality wool.

Kilims are traditional hand-woven rugs that originated in countries such as Iraq, Turkey, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Like the rest of kilims, our sample stands out for its geometric designs (geometries that synthesize rosettes and fir trees) and vibrant colors. Blue, red, green and ochre tones predominate.
