Property from an Important Private Collection Two lacquered papier-mache bindings, Qajar Iran, 19th century, The first with gold-speckled lobed medallions filled in with intersecting wavy bands , its borders with similar decoration, against a gold speckled black ground, with 2fl.annoted in pencil with reference numbers and dimensions ; the second, its covers dissociated, a lobed medallion with dense floral decoration, a rising and hanging quatrefoil above and below, amidst swaying floral tendrils, against black ground, the reverse, plain red with thin black borders within thin gold and black rules, inventory label to upper cover interior's lower right hand side, the split spine, modern the covers : 21.5 x 14.5cm. and 12.4 x 6.6cm.
