A calligraphic panel signed Yaqut al-Musta'simi (d.1298) and various calligraphies, Iran, 16th century and later Arabic on paper with 5ll. of black muhaqqaq script, 4 on a diagonal, attribution to Yaqut below in naskh, laid on card within pasted pink margins and two thin bands of buff paper, within blue borders, the reverse with various inscriptions in loose hand and two inventory numbers, 29.5 x 19.2cm ; a fragmentary line from a Qur'an in bold muhaqqaq, laid on card within repeating gold and light brown margins in double black rules, within wider light brown borders17.4 x 29.6cm. ; a calligraphic panel spuriously signed Muhammad Ja-far Al-Ghazi al-Tabrizi, Safavid Iran, dated 1091AH/1680AD, two lines of bold naskh verging on muhaqqaq interspersed by rectangular heading in tidy gold and black naskh, 8 diagonal lines of similar script below, 26.8 x 20.5cm; another calligraphic panel of two pasted lines of bold naskh, possibly from a Qur'an, on blue and buff marbled paper, laid within thin blue rules and wide yellow borders, later inscription in loose hand to the edge, five seal impressions to reverse, notes in black ink to reverse in two different hands, possibly a numeral and an aide-memoire ; the last a calligraphic composition of two lines of bold naskh script above and below two diagonal cartouches of slightly elongated naskh, possibly a date of AH٠١١٥ given (5) Provenance: Formerly in the private collection of 'Abd al-Wahhab Khan, Nizam ul-Mulk (1848-1916) and thence by descent in the early 20th century to a private London collection
