An intact buff pottery cup with ring handle, North Iran, Circa early-late 2nd Millennium B.C., the umber decoration on a buff-coloured background is arranged in horizontal panels divided by parallel encircling bands, pale pinkish-brown slip between the bands, the top panel with two rows of hatched triangles with meeting apices forming a double-axe design with unpainted diamond shapes between them, the lower register with a zig-zag design, the interior of the mouth rim is decorated with a band of reddish paint and two groups of diagonal parallel stripes, North West Iran, Sakkizabad, circa early -late 2nd Millennium B.C., 10.1cm high Provenance: UK private collection; acquired by the vendor in 1963 in Iran.
