Werner Berges (1941 Cloppenburg - 2017 Schallstadt) Untitled Highly abstracted, gestural figure composition with reduced coloration by Berges, who trained in Bremen and Berlin. In the 1960s, he became known as a Pop Art artist. From the 1980s onwards, the artist worked increasingly abstractly, preferring to use stylistic devices that deliberately deceive the viewer's eye. Some works look like collages, but on closer inspection the surfaces turn out to be painted. Other works - as in this case - give the impression that there are flaws in the paint layer and are therefore reminiscent of works by the "Affichists", but here too it is only an illusion.
