Description
Erté (Romain de Tirtoff) (1892 St. Petersburg - 1990 Paris) "Les Décolletés". Original title Characteristic Art Deco design by Erté (actually Romain de Tirtoff), who trained at the St. Petersburg Academy and under Ilya Yefimovich Repin and emigrated to Paris in 1910. He studied at the Académie Julian and produced numerous fashion designs, including for the fashion designer Paul Poiret and the fashion magazines Harper's Bazaar, Vogue and Cosmopolitan. He also created various designs for film, opera, ballet and theater. Gouache/paper. Signed lower right; verso laminated number, studio stamp and inscr. and dat.
