Lovis Corinth (1858 Tapiau - 1925 Zandvoort) Portrait of a bearded man with a fez This drawing, executed in a bold style, expressively depicts a young, bearded man wearing a fez and gazing into the distance. Corinth was one of the most important artistic personalities at the beginning of the 20th century, who took the step from Impressionism to Expressionism. He was also the founder of the Munich and Berlin Secession, of which he became chairman in 1915. He maintained a close friendship with Liebermann and achieved his artistic breakthrough around 1900.
