Erik Ludvig Henningsen (1855 Copenhagen - 1930 ibid.) The three adventurers Three boys row towards the coast on a gently rolling sea. A subtly depicted, excerpt-like composed scene by Henningsen, which - like some of his works - he executed several times. The painter studied at the academy in Copenhagen from 1873-1877 and made his debut at the Charlottenburg annual exhibition in 1879. Oil on canvas; signed in ligature lower left, dat. 1894 and inscribed "ARN" (location?). Stamp of "August With Kunsthandel Vimmelskaftet 36 (Kopenhagen)" verso, remnants of an old paper label of "Otto Lemming Kunsthandel & Forgylderetabl. Østerbrogade 27 Kjøbenhavn Ø" as well as a handwritten owner's note on an old paper label, titled "Rejsen til America" (The Journey to America). 53 cm x 61 cm. Frame. Oil on canvas. Signed, dated 1894 and inscribed "ARN". Different labels and stamp on the reverse.
