Henri Edmond Cross (1856 Douai - 1910 Saint-Clair) Reclining female nude Nude study sketched with quick, strong contours and only sparse hatching by the French painter, who was a pupil of Alphonse Colas in Lille in 1878 and then trained in Paris under François Bonvin and Emile Dupont-Zipcy. In 1883, Cross, whose real name was Delacroix, met Paul Signac and increasingly turned to open-air painting and Impressionism. Under the influence of his friend Signac and Georges Seurat, Cross became one of the most important representatives of French Pointillism. Pencil/paper. L. and red artist's stamp (Lugt 1305a).
