Carl Hummel (1821 Weimar - 1907 ibid.) attr; Campagna Landscape A late Romantic, atmospherically tuned, poetic ideal landscape from the Campagna Romana, painted around 1845, with a view of a bench under a group of trees and an aqueduct in the middle ground. Hummel studied under Friedrich Preller at the Fürstliche freie Zeichenschule Weimar from 1834 to 1841 and traveled to Italy and Sicily from 1842 to 1846. A permanent resident of Weimar from 1856, Preller became a professor at the newly founded Grand Ducal Saxon School of Art in 1860. Watercolor/paper. Approx. 37.5 cm x 47 cm (mat cut-out). Frame.
