Johann Heinrich Schröder (1757 Meiningen - 1812 ibid.) attr; Portrait of Duke Karl Wilhelm Ferdinand of Brunswick A representative, very finely painted bust portrait of the Duke, composed against a cloudy sky and full of character. This well-known pastel by the Brunswick court painter, created in several versions around 1791-1795, is considered the official portrait of the regent in his old age. Pastel with white heightening/paper. Mounted old adhesive label on verso with details of the sitter and attribution to Schröder. Approx. 32 cm x 24.5 cm, in oval. Original frame.
