Description

Large Louis XV pendulum with musical work probably by Denis François Dubois Wood, polychrome painted and gilt bronze. Baluster-shaped body with an all-over dark brown background with drop motifs in a repeat, surrounded by lavish, open-worked volute brackets. Curved, rising upper end with high, asymmetrically applied rocaille and flower crowning. Side sound windows made of latticework. Glazed, wave-like enamel dial with Roman and Arabic black numerals. Movement with arithmetic striking mechanism, marked K2314 and DFDB (probably Denis François Dubois, became master in 1767). Quarter hour strike on two bells. Organ movement with bellows and ten pewter pipes as well as triggering with the hour strike. Repetition on demand and regulation for eight melodies on wooden roll.
