Large, representative Louis XV wooden pendulum, ebonized and rich applications of gilded bronze. Baluster-shaped body, surrounded by lavish foliate scrolls with a large, profile-framed pendulum window. Glazed, white enamel dial with Roman and Arabic numerals in black, marked Gaffonde à Paris. Pendulum movement with pendulum spring and half-hour strike on bell, also marked Gaffonde à Paris. Some bronze with so-called Couronné stamp in the form of a crowned C. Rest with additions; h. 56 cm. 66 cm x 18 cm. A large French ebonized wood and gilt bronze Louis XV mantel clock. Strikes half hour on a bell. Restored with later additions. France.
