Signed Louis XV writing cabinet by Adrien Delorme rosewood and rosewood, veneered and partly green colored inlays of different woods. Three-sided cambered body, flanked by rounded corner pilaster strips, merging into slightly curved feet. Two doors in the articulated front, pull-out work surface and two-part roller shutter above. Staggered compartments behind. Wide framed, mirrored veneer panels with lavish floral marquetry. Stamped sign. DELORME (becomes master 1748). Profiled top plate of cream-colored, rosé-grained, so-called Breche d'Alep marble. H. 118.5 cm. 83 cm x 44 cm. Adrien Delorme came from a Parisian family of furniture makers. He initially created furniture in façon de la Chine. Later he concentrated on elaborate marquetry work, which earned him a reputation as "one of the most skillful and renowned for marquetry work".
