Based on the original Roman imperial terracotta work in the Musée du Louvre (Paris), which belonged to Giampietro CAMPANA, marquis di Cavelli (1809-1880). The same motif is featured in an early 16th-century Italian engraving from the collection of Baron Edmond de Rothschild (Musée du Louvre, inventory no.: 3934 LR/ Recto).
